Road users reminded about Pride Glasgow march on Saturday morning

Road users in Glasgow are reminded about Pride Glasgow’s march tomorrow, (17 August), and are urged to plan any city centre travel ahead of time.

Floats and members of the public will be lining up at Clyde Place, from 10am and the march will set off at 11.30am and end at approximately 12.30pm. There will be a rolling road closure and Police Scotland and stewards are working closely with Pride Glasgow to ensure safety is a priority.

The route from Clyde Place is: King George V Bridge, Oswald Street, Argyle Street, Queen Street, onto George Square, St Vincent Place, St Vincent Street, Renfield Street, Union Street, Jamaica Street, the Broomielaw and enter Fast Link. All floats/vehicles will continue onto the Broomielaw to McAlpine Street and disperse.

Organisations taking part have registered in advance but members of the public are encouraged to join the march from Clyde Place, or show support by lining the streets and cheering.

This year’s theme is Stonewall50, which celebrates the 50thanniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. It’s an opportunity to stand together and make our voices heard as one community.

After-march activity

There will be an event held at The Ferry for 18+ immediately after the march, ‘Pride on the Clyde’, with tribute bands and drag acts. Tickets £5 in advance or £7.50 on the door.

In addition, there is a sold-out event at The Barrowlands after the march, with various acts programmed and then later that evening, The Reflex (DJ) will headline The Barrowlands for Pride’s ‘A Night at Studio 54’. An evening of disco, glitter, fire and other performances, including DJ David Barbarossa and Glasgow’s favourite Edward Reid. Tickets £12 in advance or £15 on the door.
